What if you were born black? How would your life be different? Would you have a different Worldview?
Our past history has shaped how we think and where we are. The same is true for people of different skin color. If we are ever going to reach God’s calling for us to experience Unity in Diversity we need to come together and listen to people who look different and have different life experiences.

Deed & Truth wants to take a step in this direction. With a desire to better understand our racial issues in America, we’re inviting you to “listen-in” to a very special LIVE phone interview:

RACIAL RECONCILIATION
Seeking Unity with Diversity

SATURDAY, JUNE 27 from 9:00-10:00 am

Listen in as Pastor Dan holds a 45-minute interview with Pastor John Whaley of Cornerstone Community Church in Los Angeles. He has been married for 43 years to his wife Linda and has two adult children. He has also been a senior pastor for 31 years. John is committed to serving in the local community and serves as a volunteer chaplain for the L.A. Sherif’s department and a Hospital Chaplain in Pasadena. Prior to his pastoral training John studied film and television engineering and production. Prior to finding Christ John was a self-proclaimed racist, and Black Power and Black nationalist advocate. Pastor Whaley has a myriad of interests including being a black history buff, enjoys jazz and funk music of the 60’s-70’s (he’s a former garage band drummer), movies and how they are made, playing chess, NHRA Drag Racing, Classic Cars, and international traveling.
Instructions:

Here is the phone number to call to listen in:

(310) 372-7549

Once you have successfully connected we ask you to mute your phone and in the spirit of humility, seek to understand with an open mind. It’s our prayer that we will all be willing to let God renew our minds, reveal any discrimination in our worldview, and allow the Holy Spirit to guide us into deeper understanding of the power of empathy to transform our minds, our hearts, our churches, and help to heal a hurting country.

We also want to invite your friends and family who would be interested in hearing Pastor John’s story and insights into Racial Reconciliation. Attached is an email invite to send to your friends.  Would you help us get the word out by sending this email (feel free to edit it any way you like) to five others who you think would like to “listen in.”

Thank you for partnering with us serve the poor in our communities, to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ, and to love in Deed and Truth… because sometimes words aren’t enough.
