2 Peter 1:16-18

For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,” 18 we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain.

How does someone commit fully to their purpose in life? Peter is willing to be fully committed to his purpose because he fully believed that Jesus is the real deal sent from God. He was fully committed because he fully believed.

Faith drives commitment. Faith is not based on myth though. Faith is based on evidence. The more convincing the evidence the more faith we will possess.

This is not a clever myth that he is buying into but he was an eyewitness to his majesty. He actually heard the voice of God from heaven on the mountain of transfiguration that said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

For Peter, and the two other disciples with him that day, they had all the evidence they needed to know that Jesus had indeed, come from heaven, and is indeed, the Son of God. Peter’s evidence was personal revelation from God.

Reflection

Review how God provided personal revelation (evidence) to you that birthed and developed your faith in Christ?

Prayer

Thank you for your willingness to reveal yourself to mankind and to me personally. Thank you for being the initiator and pursuer of my soul.
