1 Peter 1:14-15

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15but as he who called you is holy you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”

Before we knew Christ, we based our behavior on the passions of our flesh driven by our feelings in the moment. However, as adopted children of God we ought to leave those old ways of decision-making (conformed) and base our conduct on obedience to our Father who is Holy (transformed).

In simple terms, our conduct ought to reflect our identity. Our conduct should reflect our calling… to be holy. Holy means to be “set apart”. We are called to be set apart FROM the world in our motivation and conduct. We are called to be set apart TO God and his purposes.

While we all live in difficult times, before a watching world, we strive to be consistently different from the world around us, as seen in our obedience to our Father’s will for our lives.

Prayer

Father, may my conduct today be transformed to reflect my new identity in Christ as your child. May my conduct be consistent with my calling to be set apart for you and your will for my life. – Amen.
