1 Peter 4:2 1 minutes to read

1 Peter 4:2

Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased to sin, so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God.

Those who have new life in Christ also have a new purpose to live for. Before Christ we lived for human passions. Our desires are different now. Now we live for the will of God. This highlights the transformational nature of our new life in Christ.

Transformation takes place because there is a new “core” or “central” desire. We are given a new heart to desire God first. Coming to Christ we have surrendered and repented from self first mentality. In time, we ought to mature to see our attitudes and conduct changed due to a new heart change. That actualization is a process but generated internally by our new core desire to put Christ in the center of our world.

Take some time to ponder what you used to live for and what you live for now?

Help me to crown you King of my heart’s kingdom every day. Reveal to me any areas of my life that I have not fully surrendered to your will.
