“In a homeless situation, it’s very hard to find hope.”
Isaac and Kaley are married with one son, Xavier, who is seven years old. They ran out of housing options after years of sofa surfing with friends. They have suffered through homelessness for a long time and hope seemed to run out.
As Kaley recalls, “In a homeless situation, it’s very hard to find hope. It’s also hard to have a positive mindset.” And without hope it’s also hard to keep pushing forward and pursuing a solution. Hope is the energy needed to persevere through difficult times. Hope is needed to make that phone call or follow through on an appointment or search again for the umpteenth time for a way out of the misery and purposelessness.
Then they found the Orange County Rescue Mission. As Kaley puts it, “it restored hope, peace, and our positive attitude.”
Both Isaac and Kaley finished the program at the mission and graduated. After two years of healing and restoration they were ready to move out into their very own apartment. This is the first time Xavier has a room to call his own. This is the first time their family has a place to call “home”.
Deed and Truth was excited to come along side the Garcia family to turn their house into a home. Our friends, John and Julie Patterson, put together a fantastic team of volunteers and took one Saturday out of their busy lives to radically transform their space into a beautiful home. We believe that the environment plays a major influence on how we go about our lives. We believe that beautiful things can happen in beautiful spaces.
Please pray for the Garcia family as they begin a new life, a new start, in a new home. And a special thank you to the Patterson’s and their compassionate friends who served this family in a very practical way, demonstrating the love of God in real time.
As Isaac, Kaley, and young Xavier look around their home and see all the beautiful furnishings supplied by strangers, may they always be filled with HOPE, knowing God knows their situation, he’s aware of their needs, and he honors their hard work with blessings supplied by his family of followers.

“Good” just isn’t a big enough word to describe the awesomeness of God and how He works in and through the lives of those who love and serve Him. What a beautiful place you all made! It reflects the “goodness” of God as a vivid reminder of the Hope we have in him. May God bless the Pattersons, their family and friends… and the Garcia family in their new HOME. Amen
