Thirteen. That’s when Saundra first experimented with drugs. She never imagined it would devastate her life for the next 25 years.
From ages 13-38 Saundra’s life was controlled by drug use. Substance abuse cost Saundra dearly. When her children were removed from her custody she finally decided it was time to get help to salvage what had become of her life.
After successfully completing her recovery program, the OC Rescue Mission recommended Saundra as an applicant for our House2Home ministry services. Saundra has been clean and sober for two years. She has dedicated herself to building a new life rooted in recovery, purpose, and hope. She has found strength in setting new goals and embracing a lifestyle that supports her personal growth.
With the help of some incredible people who have come alongside her, Saundra has regained confidence and stability. She is now working two jobs and serves as a manager at a sober living home.
God is blessing Saundra’s effort and has given her, her heart’s desire. She is overjoyed to report that next month, on August 4th, she will be reunited with her children! She recently secured a new place for her family to live in Anaheim. However, she didn’t have the resources to furnish her home.
We heard about Saundra’s journey and her need through the OC Rescue Mission and we were excited to come alongside her to provide everything she needed to turn her empty house into a beautiful home. Our House2Home team from Well Works, a women’s bible study group in South Orange County, recently invested one Saturday, along with many hours of prep, to transform her new space into a place she can be proud to raise her family, make lasting memories with her children, and remind her every day of God’s transformational power in her life.
When Saundra was thirteen, she could never know the devastation that substance abuse would thrust upon her but now at 40, Saundra is excited to see the restoration that God has in store for both her and her children.
