The working poor are living on a shoestring budget and it only takes a couple minor setbacks to create a housing crisis.

Stephanie graduated from the Orange County Rescue Mission five years ago. She had a job and a lease on an apartment. Things were going well for quite a while until she had an unexpected medical problem. Add to that setback, the rent increased twice in that same year. With her monthly income reduced and unable to work she found herself dipping into her savings on a monthly basis. She realized she’d have to give up her apartment.

Stephanie, who had been actively involved in the OC Rescue Mission alumni association, reached out to the staff at the mission for advice and help. They were able to find her a subsidized condo for two years. This opportunity gave her exactly what was needed, some breathing room financially and an opportunity to rebuild her savings.

One of our Deed and Truth House2Home teams helped Stephanie and her three children move into their new (and larger) condo. The experience brought tears of joy to this young mother as she felt stability returning for her family. Stephanie is grateful to the donors and volunteers and mostly to God, who has utilized his many resources and generous people to come to the aid of her and her family.

Please pray for Stephanie’s health and finances. Please pray for the girls to adjust well to a new school and make new friends. Pray for peace to replace anxiety that tends to build up during transitions in life. And pray for her spiritual journey as she learns to trust God more and more.

A special thanks to the “Well Works” bible study group that has been a faithful House2Home team for many years now.
