She lost her job and then got evicted. She didn’t know what to do.
Rebecca tried to survive by staying in hotels with her three children, the youngest, Nathan, being severely autistic. She eventually heard about the Union Rescue Mission on Skid Row.
Out of options Rebecca went to the mission and waited for a spot to open up at the Hope Gardens Family Center in Sylmar.
After a number of months Rebecca got into the program at Hope Gardens but it wasn’t an easy transition. It was a one-year commitment with classes and counseling that opened up old wounds. Several times she felt a powerful urge to leave. However, praying one night, she felt a peace come over her that THIS was the place for her healing.
Once Rebecca was resolved to staying and giving her best effort she went through, what she called, “a huge transformation in my body, my mind, and my spirit. I’ve never had so much support and stability for this long and I thank God for sending us to such a beautiful and loving place for me to heal.”
Rebecca began to focus on her own emotional and spiritual healing with the revelation that the best way for her children to have stability and security is knowing that their mother is well and will always be there for them.
It took her 16 months but Rebecca finally graduated the Hope Gardens program. She has worked diligently on developing better time and money management skills. And most importantly, a real relationship with God.
Our House2Home partners at All Nations Church did a wonderful job helping Deed and Truth transform her empty apartment into a beautiful home. The kids were all smiles. Little Nathan jumped up and down in delight. Finally, Rebecca and her three children, are able to experience the life-changing presence of being “HOME.”
It is So Awesome how God works through those that love Him. And to see the joy of recipients of His love; encouraging those who have been let down in life. ✝️😇😇😇😇
