“This is like a dream come true.” – Edgar
“The kids are so happy they never want to leave the house.” – Sarah
Sarah and Edgar Saldivar came to the OC Rescue Mission to get clean from their addiction, get healthy physically, emotionally, spiritually, and become responsible parents. They worked very hard to turn their lives around and become a good example for their children. With the help and encouragement of caring and compassionate people they graduated the program, obtained employment, and most recently started classes to advance their careers.
Sarah works at Albertsons and is taking classes to become a surgical technician. Edgar is working at Master Care Cleaning (title and stone cleaning) and is taking vocational classes to become a master auto mechanic.
Last weekend our Deed and Truth team of volunteers from two churches transformed the Saldivar’s empty apartment into a home. As we listened to Edgar and Sarah tell the riveting story of their journey we were all moved by Edgar’s statement, “This is like a dream come true.”
Their 2 children Ava 7, and Josiah 3 are living with them. Sarah sent a text to Betty a couple days ago which brought tears to our eyes, “The kids are so happy they never want to leave the house.”
Thanks to all of our partners, donors, and volunteers who played a role in transforming this house into a home. Please pray for the Saldivar family: Sarah, Edgar, Ava, and Josiah. They asked us to pray for their finances. They want to learn to do better budgeting of their money so that one day they could buy a house of their own.
